Walking Legends guides are very experienced at guiding people of all ages and fitness levels, and are patient, caring and attentive to our walker's needs. We have a low guide to client ratio (1:8) and small groups, so you receive our legendary personalised service. Please consult with us first before booking for children under 10 years of age.
The Tongariro Alpine Crossing is undoubtedly New Zealand's best one day hike, but to fully appreciate the majesty of the volcanoes and National Park, and for a good chance to have fair weather to undertake the hike, we recommend spending at least 3 days in the area. Our 3 day Tongariro Hiking Tour has a flexible itinerary, so the guides can choose the best weather to walk the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, and also features the spectacular climb to the active crater lake at the top of Mt Ruapehu – the North Island's highest mountain. Stay in a cozy lodge with a small group.
Alternatively, we can recommend and book a range of good quality accommodation for you when you do our Tongariro Alpine Crossing Guided Day Walk, from the Historic Grand Chateau to Boutique B&B's or Backpacker.
